I know. I know. Your gleefully counting away over all the houses you scored last night. What's that you say? Too old? Well, then you probably had one heck of a night partying with pumpkin cookies and smeared make-up all over your face. Or maybe you wound up like me. Forced to stay home and watch good old fashion horror flicks(not to worry, I bought myself a bag of Halloween candy last night, wink).

Whatever your plight, know this...Halloween ain't over until November 2nd! Let me explain.

Halloween's Origins

Many years ago, there was a Celtic holiday which marked the end of the growing season. The date fell on our Gregorian calendars on November first. Wherein, the chasm between the here and now and the hereafter became fuzzy. Thus, spirits(and humans) could freely trespass between these two realms-in other words, mortality and immortality shared the same plain for one night.

The day before was considered All Hallows Eve(October 31st). Many there were who prepared for the hour. Masks were worn(to ward off evil spirits), offerings(for the dead) were given, and lighted turnips were hung(to keep stingy Jack away). Many years later, that eve became Halloween Night. Unlike in ancient times, this holiday ends 12:00 midnight Nov. 1st.

Halloween Tripeaks

Okay, enough with the history lessons already! In essence, it's still Halloween. And so I will give you one last treat before it's all said and done. Tonight, let's play a little bit of...Drum-role please...

"Halloween Solitaire(a.k.a. Tripeaks)"! Produced by Mark Klocek of Solitaireparadise.com. The game goes by a different agenda(from your typical set of Solitaire). Highlighted below...

1. You can go up or down in sequence(e.g. ace equals king or 2).

2. There's no need to follow a red and black pattern.

3. Only one wild card is available in case you get stuck.

4. Your matches don't stack downward in numeral sequence.

A mouse and a sharp mind should do the trick. Try to finish the rounds as fast as you can to score the most points! It's more or less a way to beat your own score. Good luck and until next year, Happy Halloween!
